#whyworry Let God Fill the Gap!

This week for the Proverbs 31 "Am I Messing Up My Kids" study we are discussing letting God 'fill the gap'. One of the things that really struck my soul was "having the spirit of trust in God". Trust is hard! I'm sure I'm not the only one who has trust issues. Whether you've been burned by who you thought was a friend, scorned by a lover, or left by a family, trust can be a tricky subject. Trusting people is one thing, but God is a God of faithfulness. He is not a God of abandonment nor is He fickle. God is there, good times and bad. You can trust in God.
Having said that, I often tend to worry. What is worry? Simply put, worry is lack of trust. When we worry we are foolishly thinking that God doesn't have an answer for this problem or that God isn't at work for our wellbeing in this matter.
I know that God will take care of me as He says in Matthew 6:25-34 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
I have trouble with worry because I feel like I should be at work in solving the problem, when in reality God says in Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God."
I worry about my husband, my daughter, my family and friends, I worry about my health, I worry about my financial situation. Does this change the situation, does it make anything better? No. God says in Luke 10:25 "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?" Stop wasting time worrying...start using your time giving it over to God and praying.
No, I'm not saying you shouldn't pay your bills and expect God to put a check in the mail for you. However, when you're weighted down by worrying about money, take some time to take your concerns to God. Allow God to work in your life. He is amazing!
