Surgery/Recovery

Thursday December 27th we arrived at Children's in Omaha at 9 o'clock. A half hour early, Wendy slept through the drive but was adamant on informing everyone she was starving once we arrived. After checking in and getting settled in our room we started meeting all the wonderful people that would take care of us, starting with Jan. Jan was truly an angel! Wendy wanted to cheese a lot for Jan. We made it another hour and at 10:00 thought we were grouchy, Wendy just couldn't understand why mommy and daddy wouldn't feed her. It was harder on mommy and daddy!
We got to go back to surgery 45 minutes early and we were thrilled! Wendy was sleeping, all wrapped up warm and cozy in her blanket. She got to take back her pacifier and musical elephant as her comfort items.
Soon the surgeon came back to tell us that she stayed asleep while they have her the anesthesia. The surgery went well and they patched up her 4 cm hole! We just had to wait a 1/2 hour before we could have our baby girl back in our arms.
Brett and I got so excited we were waiting in the hall for her! Soon we saw her bed being rolled back and the nice nurse carrying her. Mommy got to hold her first and it felt so good to have her back. Daddy went to get us lunch and ate his so fast so he could hold his sweetie.
We got released at 3pm. We had to force Wendy awake and make her eat. Wendy slept the whole way home, woke up for medicine, drank 4 ounces, and continued her healing sleep.
