As many men would claim to be left out during the pregnancy, Brett has been a little left out in my blog. However, unlike some men he has been very active in all aspects of being here for Wendy and mommy.
Since day one of finding out he has been there in every way; cleaning when I was exhausted, cooking anything I had a craving for, always coming to the doctors appointments and putting together the crib while I took a nap.
He could hear our baby move by putting his ear on my belly, but now that I can feel her move he feels like he is missing out and is eager for her kicks to get stronger. He even reads to her.
I know the day she is welcomed into this world he will be right there beside me and not want to give her up to anyone else to hold. I always thought I'd be jealous if I shared my husbands heart with another woman, but I'll glad share the spot with our daughter because I know she'll hold a big piece of his heart.
I always knew Brett would be a good husband and father, but seeing how excited he gets every time we see Wendy on the ultrasound machine floors me. He will be her encourager through every milestone, her fan for every sport, her compass for every decision, her first love. I know how much my dad means to me and am certain Brett will be every bit as important to Wendy.
A lot of people say men don't become fathers until the child is in their hands, but I disagree. Brett was a daddy the day the test said positive.
Happy Fathers Day Wendy's Dad :)
